• Description

  Recently upgraded to SharePoint 2013 Foundation, and now receiving error message when trying to extend the top site node:

  Unable to connect to the remote server. Permissions and child items cannot be extracted for the selected item. This may be caused by the fact that the selected item is a SharePoint 2016 SiteMaster.

  

• Cause

  The issues is related to the content database having missing features as it was brought across from a SharePoint 2010 farm.

• Resolution

  
  The issue was resolved after fixing the missing features, updating the latest cumulative update, and reinstalling the (SXP) Security Explorer web service.
