Extensive ongoing research in addition to positive customer feedback, resulted in the following changes and improvements in version 7 of Secure Copy.
Restore jobs from a log file:
Jobs and their settings can now be restored from a previous log file. Open Logs and Reports, right-click a log file, and choose Restore job settings. Once restored, you can run the job as-is, or make changes as necessary.
Analyze copy jobs prior to migration:
Before running a migration copy job, you may want to run the new Analyze feature to enumerate the number of folders and files to be migrated.
Check for product updates:
By default, Secure Copy checks for updates to the software when you start the application. You can choose to turn off the automatic update and check for updates manually.
Filter files to copy by number of days:
On the Filters page for a copy job, you can now define a range of days ago when files were created, modified, or last accessed.
Disable logging on a per-job basis:
For a performance boost, you can now choose to disable logging for a copy job on the Performance page.
Perform CRC32 checksums on skipped files:
On the Performance page for a copy job, you can now optionally select to include CRC32 checksum verification on skipped files, as well as copied files.
Delete jobs from the command line:
With the new /DELETE parameter, you can use SecureCopyCmd.exe to delete jobs from the command line. E.g. SecureCopycmd /Name="StorageBackup" /Delete.
Track users who consume licenses
The names of users who consumed a license are now recorded in the License Information Report.
View remaining volume space
For a selected copy job, volume space remaining now displays for source and target paths on the Dashboard tab of the Logs and Reports module.
Create initial root folders for migrated file shares
When migrating file shares, initial root share folders are now created/shared on the target to allow Secure Copy to create multiple shares within a copied folder.
Retain offline settings for migrated file shares
Migrated file shares now preserve their caching settings, which determine the files and programs available to users who are offline.
Include SACL in a migration
On the Other File Options page for a copy job, you can now optionally choose to copy the system access control list (SACL) for auditing.
Create a copy job from Windows Explorer
On the Tools | Preferences page, you can select to enable Secure Copy context menus. Once enabled, you can right-click a folder in Windows Explorer, and select Secure Copy | Create job.
Remove 0rphaned SIDs from target permissions:
On the Other File Options page for a copy job, you can now choose to remove orphaned SIDS from target permissions to reduce potential security risks.
Use the Migration Manager for Active Directory INI file:
Secure Copy now supports the INI map file format for security mapping from Migration Manager for Active Directory, which allows you to migrate data from one domain/forest to another domain/forest and update the permissions in a single process.
