1. Exact version and bitness of Windows on the machine RME is installed on.
2. Exact version of Netbackup agent installed on the RME machine?
3. Exact version and bitness of Windows on the machine where the backed up Exchange server was installed.
4. Is the Exchange backup streaming or snapshot (VSS)?
5. Does C:\Temp exist and does the account have permissions to it?
6. Are you logged with an account that is a member of the Local Admin group?
7. When you start Exchange Emulation are you choosing to manually enter the settings and not use the Automatic option? If it is try using the Manual option.
8. What is the "commit" set to in the Netbackup Client ?
9.Are The Netbackup Client Service and Netbackup Legacy Network Service are both running under an account that has Exchange Administrator permissions (as per Page 52 and 53 of the RME User guide and the following Symantec

10. Is the Volume Shadow Copy Service on the RME server is running and Set to Automatic?
11. Confirm that the REG_DWORD RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs found under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows is set to 0
12. "Destination client for restores" and all setting are using the DNS name not the Netbios (shortname)

13.Can you export the NB policy used to backup Exchange servers to a file, and send it to support? You may use the tool: bppllist.exe policy_name > c:\exported.txt, or just copy all files from /netbackup/db/class/policy_name and zip them up and send them in
14. Export the following Registry key on the RME server HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas and zip it up.
15. If emulation fails to connect, Copy the apiemulation.dll or apiemulation64.dll files to a short path (C:\RME). Then Search the registy and for any entry that specified the path of the apiemulation.dll or apiemulation64.dll files with the short path.
