Where can I locate the Forest Edition's troubleshooting logs, what does each log contain, and what should I look for?
The Recovery Manager Forest Edition troubleshooting logs are always on. The Forest Edition console and agent store their logs in the same place on the local system:
Documents and Settings\All Users\Quest Software\RMAD\Logs
These logs are required for any troubleshooting. If you are experiencing a problem with the product please ensure you have these available when contacting Technical Support.
At this point in time the troubleshooting logs are not reader friendly and can not be interpretable by users. However, these logs assist Technical Support and Development in identifying the source of the problem and resolving it.
Additionally, there is an event log on each DC called Quest Recovery Manager for AD, which is created when the forest recovery agent is first installed on the DC. This event log stores messages from forest recovery agent and are the same status messages that are shown in the Forest Edition Console. The Forest Edition Console uses the event log to monitor the progress of the recovery. These events are not very useful from a troubleshooting/debugging perspective.
