CR0099592
DESCRIPTION
When creating a comparison report in the Online Restore wizard, you may encounter the following issue: for user objects that are members of local groups in trusted domains, the report contains the error message "Directory object not found."
This issue shows up when the user account with which Recovery Manager accesses the target domain controller has no enough rights in the trusted domain.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use the account that has permissions to access objects in trusted domains.

DESCRIPTION
When retrying backups for ADAM hosts, you encounter the following issue: the application backs up the System State of the computer with ADAM installation. The ADAM backup is not performed.
The Retry Backup command is available on the Action menu when you select an ADAM host displayed in the details pane for the backup creation session in question.
WORKAROUND
Disregard the Retry Backup command on ADAM hosts. To retry an ADAM backup, manually restart the backup job.

When using the Online Restore wizard, you may encounter the following issue: the application gets stuck in the Operation Progress step.
This issue shows up if the wizard processes containers with a large number (thousands) of objects.

When you manually install the backup agent on a domain controller, you may encounter the error message:" Error 1920. Service 'Quest Backup Agent' ErdAgent failed to start."
This issue shows up when you have specified the TCP port that is being used by another application. The TCP port number is specified on the "Backup Agent Port" page of the Quest Backup Agent Installation wizard.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, perform the following steps.
1. Cancel the installation process.
2. Restart the Quest Backup Agent Installation wizard and follow the provided instructions.
3. On the "Backup Agent Port" page, specify a TCP port that is not currently in use.

DESCRIPTION
In the Group Policy Restore wizard, when using a comparison report, you encounter the following problem: the report does not include information about changes to certain Group Policy settings.

Do not manually log off from the target DC. Let the wizard restart the computer remotely.

When viewing properties of directory objects in a backup using the Online Restore wizard, you may encounter the following issue: some of properties erroneously labeled as changed since the time the backup was created. To view properties of a directory object in backup, select this object on the "Objects to Be Processed" page and then click the "Properties" button.
WORKAROUND
Disregard this information, if the property has the same value in the backup and in Active Directory.

DESCRIPTION
When backing up a Computer Collection that includes several ADAM hosts, you may encounter the following issue: the Recovery Manager snap-in indicates that the backup session result is Success, but the backup job is still performing. The backup session result is displayed in the details pane when you select the session in the console tree, under the Sessions node.
WORKAROUND
Wait for the backup job to terminate.

DESCRIPTION
When clicking containers under an ADAM Configuration Set in the console tree, you may encounter the error message: "Directory object not found."
This issue shows up when you have connected to ADAM using an account that has no the 'List Folder Contents' permission on ADAM containers.

When restoring a deleted user account with the Online Restore wizard, you may encounter the error message: 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.' The restore process fails.
This issue shows up when Recovery Manager runs on a Windows 2000 computer. You receive this error message after you specify a new password for the user account in the "Password Settings" dialog box.
WORKAROUND
Try to restore the deleted user with Recovery Manager running on a Windows 2003 or XP computer.

DESCRIPTION
When using the BackupDBImport.exe tool to import the backup and configuration data from ERDisk 6.8, you may encounter the following issues:
-The imported backups are not displayed in the Recovery Manager snap-in.
- When importing the configuration database, the BackupDBImport.exe tool receives the error message: 'The source database version is not supported. The application can import data only from the version 7.0 or higher.'
WORKAROUND
You can manually register AD backups with the Register Backup command. This command is available on the shortcut menu when you right-click the node Backups/Active Directory.

4. Restart the wizard.

In the Online Restore or Group Policy Restore wizard, when you have registered an offline Active Directory database, the "Keep extracted data after completing the wizard" check box is erroneously available on the Backup Data Preparation page.

To work around this issue, click OK to close the error message window, restart the wizard and try to restore the objects from other available backup.

DESCRIPTION
When performing authoritative restore of individual objects with the Repair wizard, you may receive the error message: "80070057 parsing input - illegal syntax?"
This error message is displayed when the name of the object to be authoritatively restored contains special characters, such as ~,!,#,|, etc.
WORKAROUND
No workaround exists. You cannot authoritatively restore directory objects whose name contains special characters.

DESCRIPTION
In the Repair wizard, on the "Computer Restart" page, after you select the "Manual restart" option, restart the target computer in the Directory Service Restore mode (DSRM), and then click Next, you receive the error message: "The remote procedure call failed."
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, manually restart the target DC in the DSRM, and perform the following steps:
1. Restart the Repair wizard and follow the provided instructions.
2. On the "Target Computer" step, when prompted, in the "Select Account" dialog box, supply the account name and password of the target computer local administrator (DSRM Administrator).
3. Follow the provided instructions to complete the wizard.

When you specify the maximum number of sessions to be shown in the console tree, you may encounter the following issue: after you perform a backup job, Recovery Manager adds the most recent session to the session list under the Sessions node. To work around this issue, when adding new items to a Collection, ensure that the "Show all Collection objects" view mode is selected.

The Recovery Manager console enables you to open several instances of the "Defaults" dialog box. The "Defaults" dialog box is used to manage default properties of Computer Collections. You can open this dialog box by selecting the node Computer Collections and clicking Collections Defaults on the Action menu.

To set default properties of Computer Collections, use only one instance of the "Defaults" dialog box.
