This article provides a list of issues that were resolved and enhancements that were implemented in Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.1.2.
For each issue that was resolved in Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.1.2 the following list includes the CR ID and a brief description of the problem. The list also includes descriptions of enhancements that were implemented in this maintenance release, with the relevant CR IDs.
NOTE: Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.1.2 is a cumulative package that also includes all updates that were implemented in Recovery Manager for AD 7.1.1. For more information, see the following article:
List Updates Included in Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.1.1
The following issues are resolved in Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.1.2:
In some cases, the backup creation process may fail without providing any error description or code in the backup session properties.
When restoring a deep hierarchy of objects with the Online Restore Wizard, the following error may occur: "The object parent is marked as deleted. The object cannot be undeleted."
Enhancement: The list on the Group Policy Object Selection page in the Group Policy Restore Wizard now includes the Links column that shows whether links to a given Group Policy Object were modified, as compared with a backup.
After modifying settings in the Session Properties dialog box, the Apply button may remain unavailable, so it is necessary to close the dialog box by clicking OK to commit changes.
After upgrading Recovery Manager to version 7.1, some configuration settings of the earlier installation of Recovery Manager may be missing from the new installation.
When selecting the password protection option in the Backup Wizard, the wizard ignores the selection. As a result, the backup created by this wizard is not password-protected.
When selecting the backup compression option in the Backup Wizard, the wizard ignores the selection. As a result, the backup created by this wizard is not compressed.
If choosing to restore data using the agent method, optionally provided by the Online Restore Wizard, the following error may occur: "Initialization of source interface(s) failed. Error: Failed to create a remote object. Class not registered." In this case, the restore operation fails.
If choosing to compare selected attributes using the agent method, optionally provided by the Online Restore Wizard, the report may erroneously identify "unchanged" attributes as "added."
If specifying alternative credentials in the Backup Wizard, the wizard ignores them, always accessing the target computer in the security context of the logon account.
If selecting the option "Show only computers to be backed up" (located on the toolbar) to view the contents of a Computer Collection, the display may erroneously include both computers and their parent containers.
After the Restore Wizard initiates the restart of the target domain controller in Directory Services Restore Mode, the following error may occur: "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute."
With the Journal software, the appropriate Journal task is not created for Recovery Manager. As a result, alerts cannot be arranged to be sent via e-mail if a backup is not successful in Recovery Manager.
If attempting to upgrade Recovery Manager from version 6.0 or 6.1 to 7.1, Setup displays an unclear error message rather than a message stating that this upgrade scenario is not supported.
After modify the retention policy settings for unpacked backups, not all of the changes to those settings take effect.
If there are two computers with the same NetBIOS name (but different FQDNs) on the network, the Online Restore Wizard cannot distinguish between those computers. As a result, the wizard fails to restore data to one of those computers, even when specifying the computer's FQDN in the Computer Collection used to create the computer's backup.
When the number of users in AD exceeds the number specified in the Recovery Manager license, the message that appears in the Session properties reports an incorrect number of users in AD.
Backup creation time in the Online Restore Wizard is displayed in the GMT zone rather than in the local time zone.
If scripting is used to perform a comparison task, the script may hang when comparing the membership of a user in local groups located in a non-accessible domain.
When using scripting to perform a comparison task, the task fails if the script explicitly specifies any object attributes or object types to be compared.
Enhancement: When registering backups by pointing to a certain folder, Recovery Manager now registers all backups located in that folder and its subfolders.
If attempting to cancel the Repair Wizard while it restores a domain controller's System State to a regular server, the wizard displays an incorrect warning message, stating that the server is in Directory Services Restore Mode.
Although backups can be create protected with the blank password, the Recovery Manager wizards fail to restore data from such backups.
NOTE: This issue was earlier documented in the following solution:
Decryption of a backup protected with empty password fails
When attempting to unpack a backup in Recovery Manager, the error "System cannot find file specified" may occur. This may only happen if the total length of the path and name to a file extracted from the backup exceeds 256 characters.
If both Recovery Manager for AD and Recovery Manager for Exchange are installed on the computer, backups cannot be created with Recovery Manager for AD. Backup creation fails, returning the error code 0XC0000005.
In the list of Computer Collection members, the Location field is empty for domain controllers.
After upgrading Recovery Manager from version 7.0 to 7.1, importing the backups created with version 7.0, the Backup Properties dialog box in version 7.1 does not display some System State components that are actually present in the imported backups.
When creating a backup of an ADAM site, Recovery Manager fails to apply alternative credentials if any specified in the Computer Collection settings. As a result, the backup operation may fail due to insufficient access rights, especially if the ADAM site is located in a foreign domain.
Enhancement: If attempting to register backups by pointing to a folder that contains no backups, Recovery Manager now displays a warning message stating that there are no backups in the folder selected.
When trying to use the command "Register Backup on Tape Drive," Recovery Manager fails to work with the tape drive. As a result, backups cannot be registered using that command.
NOTE: This issue was earlier documented in the following solution:
Registering a backup with the Register Backup on Tape Drive command fails
The name of the folder used by the backup agent to store log files includes the legacy name Aelita.
NOTE: This update changes the location of the Recovery Manager logs that are normally used for troubleshooting purposes. When debug logging is enabled, the log files will be located in the folder <%systemroot%>\system32\ERDisk\. For more information on this subject, refer to the following solution:
How to Enable/Disable Debug Logging in Aelita Recovery Manager for Active Directory
If the backup creation process is started for two or more Computer Collections at the same time, then Recovery Manager may be unexpectedly terminated.
In the Backup Properties dialog box, clicking the Apply button hides the dialog box. Nevertheless, the changes are committed.
When comparing backups of different domain controllers, which is a non-supported scenario, Recovery Manager returns an unclear error message rather than a message stating that only backups of the same domain controller can be compared with each other.
The BackupDBImport tool displays incorrect information about its usage.
When attempting to register a backup that does not include System State components, Recovery Manager erroneously displays the following message: "This media contains no Exchange Information Store backups."

- The same policy setting in the "User Rights Assignment" section may be displayed two times [CR0120984]
- Assigned software packages are erroneously shown as "Published" [CR0124502]
