How does ADVL communicate with the new Virtual Machine?
Description
When the new VM is created by ADVL the NIC is disabled. How does ADVL communicate with the new VM to complete the rest of the required steps and operations?
Resolution
ADVL is able to communicate with the new VM even when the NIC is disabled due to:
The FR agent is running on the new cloned VM because it was installed on the source machine
Both Hyper-V and VMWare have their own way to push data to the VM:
In VMWare, ADVL creates small data files with serialized commands on the VM using VMWare API. These files are read and processed by the FR agent. This same approach, communication through files, is also used between the BMR console and the FR agent during the first steps of the bare metal recovery operation.
