Collect diagnostic data fails with a timeout retrieving the data from a Domain Controller. -
Description
You receive the following error when collecting Diagnostic data from DCs:
Operation Failed: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed.
CollectItem.CollectProc(): Log collector failed.

Cause
The total time taken to run diagnostics tests, copy logs, zip the files and transfer them is taking longer then the default timeout value of 300 seconds. -
Resolution
You can set the timeout on the RMAD server for log collection by creating and setting a value in the following keys:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest\Recovery Manager for Active Directory\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quest\Recovery Manager for Active Directory\Create a new DWORD value, with the name "LogsCollectTimeoutSecs", and set the value to the timeout value.The default is 5 minutes, or 300 in decimal.If you are unsure of what to set, you can review the following file on the DC, which should show the start and end time for collection:
C:\Logs Collector\CollectedData\CollectOutput.txtThis file will only exist if you had a timeout on the DC recently, as these files are removed when there is a successful run.
To be safe, you should double the duration that this takes, as this does not include the zipping of the data, or the transferring of the data.
