There is an issue with the DR 4100 and DR 4000 appliances running the version 4.0.0.3 code where it is generating an error when attempting to create a tiered repository in Rapid Recovery core version 6.x.
These are the steps taken to reproduce this issue:

The DR team has released a patch known as 4.0.0.3a which addresses this defect. After downloading and upgrading the DR appliances to it, you will be able to add this storage as a R3 repository in the Rapid Recovery 6.1.3 core. DR version 4.0.0.3a was released on 8/28/17.
The latest DR hotfix may be obtained directly for download from the Support Portal located at DR Series - Download Software
This is fixed in the release of Rapid Recovery 7.0.0.
