How to Create a White Labeled/Rebranded Core Installer -
Description
Partners may want to create a rebranded core installer. -
Resolution
- If not installed, install 7-Zip.
- Copy the original core installer, to a separate location, to be modified.
- Change the copied Core installer extension from exe to zip.
For Example: Rename Core-X64-Installer-Original.exe to Core-X64-Installer.zip
- Extract the archive Core-X64-Installer.zip with 7-zip.
- Delete all content from the extracted file except the Resources folder.
Only the Resources folder should remain.
- Within the extracted folder, replace the following with your own branded file but do not change the file name:
- Resources\ProductIcon.ico
- Resources\InstallationCompanyLogo.png
- Resources\(localization - en-US, es-ES, fr-FR)\AppRecovery EULA.rtf
- Resources\UICompanyLogo.png
- Resources\LicenseKeyEntryLogo.png
- Resources\AboutDellLogo.png
- Resources\SplashScreen.png
- Resources\RecoveryConsoleButton.png
- Resources\winpe.jpg
- Resources\UICompanyLogoEssentials.png
- Resources\MR\ProductIcon.ico
- Resources\MR\ProductAboutBackground.png
- Resources\MR\InstallWizardBanner.png
- Resources\MR\InstallWizardBanner_wide.png
- Edit Resources\ProductConfiguration.xml with notepad or another text editor.
WARNING. Do not change the file structure, delete tags or change the tag positions in the file. It will break the white labeling process.
Not all tags need to be edited.Edit the tags that you choose.

Reminder: The directory that the link in the <BucketWebAddress> tag refers to, should contain Core/Agent web content files, which are needed for web installers. - Full company name in <CompanyName>Dell Inc.</CompanyName>

Note: The URI provided will be appended with "display/AA50D/" to get the folder for the documentation. For example<DocsWebAddress>http://www.abc.com/</DocsWebAddress> in ProductConfiguration.xml will reference "http://www.abc.com/display/AA50D/". So put the documentation in that location. - To hide the integrated help, change "False" to "True" in <HideIntegratedHelp>False</HideIntegratedHelp>

- Save and close the file when completed.
- Archive the Resources folder using 7-zip
- Right click on the Resources folder
- Select 7-zip > Add to Resources.zip
Only the Resources directory should be in the zip archive.
- Copy the Resources.zip file to the same directory as the original core installer file.
- Open a CMD prompt as adminstrator to execute the command to create the rebranded installer.
- Navigate to where the original core installer and the copied Resources.zip reside.
- Execute the following: "<Originalcoreinstaller> rebrandinstaller=Resources.zip"
Example:Core-X64-Installer-Original.exe rebrandinstaller=Resources.zip
- Once completed the Rebranded Installer will be located in the same folder as the original core installer.
