Replication with vRanger is causing multiple target vms to be created on the target datastore. Each one is appended with a number such as
vmname_replica_1.
This is caused by vRanger losing track of the vm possably due to the target vm being vmotioned to another host in the cluster.
To avoid this the vRanger job needs to have the UUID of the target vm added. This is done when selecting the target ESX host.
- If the target vm exists at the time you are creating the job when selecting the target host there is a Preseed UUID box. Next to the text box is a button. By clicking on the button a list of vms on the selected host will be presented. Select the desired vm and click Next.
- If the target vm does not exist create the job without the UUID and allow vRanger to create the target on the first run. Once the first replication is complete edit the job and select the vm created by vRanger.
Preseeding is discussed in the vRanger Deployment Guide.
