How to import existing client catalogue info from my IBM DB2 Client and use it in Toad to connect. How do I export this information to be able to import into Toad?
Before importing a client profile in Toad, you must export your existing DB2 catalog entries from a DB2 client to a profile using the Connectivity Configuration Export Tool Command (db2cfexp).
1. Open up OS command line, not DB2's command line editor. (Start | Run | "cmd")
2. cd into your IBM DB2 client directory. This is where your local native DB2 client is installed (not the Toad DB2 client).
3. Once in the correct directory, run the command:
db2cfexp filepath M
Filepath -- is a user defined path of where you want the catalogue information to be written to and the name of the file to be created with this info.
M -- is the command for MAINTAIN. This creates a configuration profile containing only database- and node-related information for maintaining or updating other instances.
Example: in OS cmd line...
C:\Documents and Settings\cchiu> cd..
C:\Documents and Settings> cd..
C:\> cd Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB
C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB> db2cfexp c:\exportedcat.txt M
This will create the exportedcat.txt file in the c:\ and will contain all the catalogue info that you have saved in your IBM DB2 client.
For more information about the db2cfexp command, refer to the IBM documentation at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/core/r0002442.htm
Starting with Toad for DB2 v3.0 there is an Export Profile option that will walk you though an export.
