Registered my Toad for DB2 with a commercial key but every time I start it, it shows a trial key.
This is by design. The trial key takes precedence over any commercial keys. This offers the user to use the product even if there is a problem with the commercial key. If one does nothing, the trial key will eventually expire and the commercial key will authorize the product in its place.
RESOLUTION 1:
If one would like to remove the trial key before its expiration date:
1. From the main menu, go to View | Licensing .
2. There should be at least two licensing tabs.
3. Determine the tab that has the trial key.
4. Click on the 'Delete License' link.
The commercial license key will remain and will be the only key authorizing the product.
RESOLUTION 2:
On Windows 7, try right-clicking on the Toad icon and select "Run as administrator" and then try registering Toad by going to Help | Licensing
RESOLUTION 3:
1. On Windows XP go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for DB2 5.x
2. Open license.key with Notepad
3. Edit it with your commercial license key
On Windows Vista and 7 the location is C:ProgramData\Quest Software\Toad for DB2 5.x
RESOLUTION 4:
1. Go to Start | Run (or Start | Search for Windows Vista and 7) and type in 'REGEDIT'
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | SOFTWARE | Quest Software | Toad for DB2 | 5.X
3. On the right-hand-side look for 'Edition' string value
4. If the value says 'Toad for DB2 Trial, right-click and choose 'Modify'
5. Remove the 'Trial' entry
6. Try registering Toad again
