Encryption plugin at this time is not supported with the NDMP plugin because the majority of sites backup direct to tape. When the tape drive is directly attached to the filer the NDMP back is a point-to-point transfer between and NDMP Data Server and a tape drive. If the tape drive is on the filer then there is a Tape Server running the tape drive and a Data Server is running the data. NetVault does not see ANY of the data in this configuration and so cannot encrypt it - only the filer could encrypt it.

Duplicate the data back to VTL before restoring data to the filer.
Current workarounds are :
Encrypt the files on the filer
use tape drive encryption
backup to VTL first, duplicate with encryption plugin to tape. The Down side with this solution is that to restore encrypted backup we have to duplicate the data back to VTL before the data can restore to filer.
