Connecting to Host Named Site Collections (4339599)

When attempting to connect using the Metalogix Extensions Web Service (MEWS) in the Content Matrix Console, the user receives any of the error messages below despite installing the WSP, ensuring permissions are correct and using the correct URL.

401 Unauthorized

Cannot find Metalogix Web Extensions on the target. Please ensure that the correct version of the Web Extensions is installed on the target, or try connecting at the Site Level.

The Metalogix SharePoint Extensions Web Service is not installed on this server. For more information on how to install the Extensions Web Service refer to the documentation.

The issue may occur often when using Host Named Site Collections on the target. It is a known SharePoint issue when resolving host names.

1. Open Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTControlset\control\Lsa\MSV1_0.
3. Create a Multi-String Value key named "BackConnectionHostNames".
4. Right-click on it and select Modify.
5. Enter the host name URL in the Value Data field, then click OK.
