Connection from the PAO GUI to the middleware and the repository is not possible, because the workstation where the GUI is running cannot resolve the name of the middleware/repository host. The middleware and repository host is not declared in the DNS, and it is not possible to change the local hosts file on the workstation (customer does not allow this).
1. Edit three files on the collector host under PA_HOME/StealthCollect/6.0/HOSTNAME-SID/quest_sc_collector/config:
In all three files, edit the entry host HOSTNAME and replace HOSTNAME with the ip-address of the middleware/repository machine.
2. Edit the file PA_HOME/StealthCollect/6.0/HOSTNAME-SID/quest_sc_mw/config/quest_sc_mw.cfg on the middleware host and replace the string collector host="HOSTNAME" with collector host="ip-address"
3. Restart the collector.
In order to avoid having to edit these files, you should do the installation as follows:
1. When asked for the name of the middleware host, provide the ip-address instead of the hostname.
2. When asked, whether the collector machine is part of a cluster, answer YES even though the machine is not part of a cluster. Thus, you will be asked for the "virtual hostname" of the collector machine, and you can enter the ip-address instead of the hostname.
The middleware, the repository as well as the collector are located on one machine. In real multi-tier installation, you have to make these changes on both the collector machine as well as on the middleware machine.
