Error connecting PA client GUI: "Error reported by function Connect" (4244602)

Following error is thrown when connecting to the monitored instance from the PA GUI:

Unknown problem Extended Information: Message: Error reported by function Connect.
Component Class: TSCSourceConnection
Error Code: -1010101 = Unknown problem

On each machine where PA Client is installed, add the hostname and corresponding IP address to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file. This will enable the machine to understand which machine to connect to when a request is made by PA Client for connection.

Also, ping the <hostname> from the monitored host machine to the middleware host machine or visa versa for testing purposes, if the ping <hostname> returns the message" could not find host"

Map the hostname to the IP address in this file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.
Example:
10.10.10.1 <SomeHostName>

Perform ping <hostname> to verify that it works.

In some cases, you may have to add an entry on the monitored servers' /etc/hosts file as well.
