Performance Analysis for DB2 does not identify long running SQL or no SQL Statements appear in the PA GUI client. (4281624)

Resolution 1:

1. Upgrade PADB2 agent to 7.0.448.0 version. Please download a patch for Performance Analysis for DB2 at a level higher than 7.0.448 from here
2. Restart PA services on both tiers.
3. Perform configuration changes on the Middleware config file:
   a. On Middleware host, navigate to [Middleware host: /optDB2/foglight/agents/SC_DB2/7.0/<DB instance>/quest_sc_mw/config]  and backup the file “collector_ext_config.cfg”
   b. Edit the file (as the OSUser)  and modify the two parameters – set these two parameters to “true”
   DB_Extended_Config.DB_Attach_Database_Dynamic_Segments "false"
   DB_Extended_Config.DB_Attach_Instance_Dynamic_Segments "false"
   
   or
   
   
   a. Launch the PA GUI client to that DB2 instance | click on the Agent Administration (button with two gears)
   b. Highlight Agent Options node
   c. Press the combination of: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Q simultaneously 
   d. Switch to the Support node | Extended Configuration tab.
   e. Scroll down to these parameters and set them to "true"
   DB_Extended_Config.DB_Attach_Database_Dynamic_Segments "false"
   DB_Extended_Config.DB_Attach_Instance_Dynamic_Segments "false"
   Save the file, restart PA services
4. If Collector stabilizes, PA Client should be able to connect and customer can see the DB Wait events and other metrics. If this is successful, let PA agent run and monitor the activity – whether it can capture the short lived SQL statements execution

Resolution 2:

Development team introduced additional dynamic segment related extended parameter from PADB2 7.0.491 onwards. Now there are 3 extended parameters related to dynamic memory segments in the latest version of PADB2.

On AIX starting version DB2 9.5.5 and on Linux starting version DB2 10.1, there are three dynamic segments extends that should be set TRUE in order to turn the support for dynamic segments (only if you upgrade to the latest PA DB2 version):

1.   Launch the PA GUI client to that DB2 instance | click on the Agent Administration button (two gear button)
2.   Highlight Agent Options node
3.   Press the combination of: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Q simultaneously
4.   Switch to the Support node | Extended Configuration tab.
5.   Scroll down to these parameter

If you are running an older version of Performance Analysis for DB2 and hence you can enable only two of these already. If the problem is still not resolved after enabling the two parameters, please upgrade your Performance Analysis DB2 agent to the latest version and enable all the 3 parameters.
