ERROR: "The specified OS user 'db2inst1' password is invalid. Please specify valid 'db2grp1' user (4274675)

When installing DB2 collector agent on SLES 10 SP2 server to monitor DB2 LUW V9.5 FP5 the following error comes up:

"The specified OS user 'db2inst1' password is invalid. Please specify valid 'db2grp1' user password.'

PADB2 7.0.4 did not support DB2 v 9.7 FP4 and DB2 v 9.5 FP5 on platform Linux Suse v 10 SP2.

Also install user id did not have permission of sysadm group.

STATUS:

Enhancement request SCDBII-819 and SCDBII-821 have been submitted to development for consideration in a future release of Performance Analysis for DB2.

WORKAROUND:

The installation will require three phases:

1. Log in with the installing user and start PA installation with a non-DB2 OS user
2. Log in with DB2 OS user and run quest_launcher_user script
3. Log in with installing user and complete the PA installation

Here are the 3 phases in detail:

1. Log in with installing user
2. Start PA installation (run the LSI binary file)
3. When the installation comes to the point, where it asks for DB2 OS user, cancel the installation by using "CTRL+C" it.
4. Stop PA processes, by execute the command: (PA install dir)/agents/bin/quest_launcher_daemon stop
5. Set WRITE permissions to all users to the "(PA install dir)/agents/bin/"
6. Log in with DB2 OS user
7. Go to "(PA install dir)/agents/bin"
8. Run the script "quest_launcher_user"
9. Logout from the DB2 OS user and relogin as the PA installing user
10. Start PA processes: "/agents/bin/quest_launcher_daemon start"
11. Start PA installation (run the LSI binary file)
12. Complete the installation - this time no prompt for the DB2 OS user will be prompted
