The URL path for all files and folders must be 400 characters or less

During migration, files may fail to migrate with a batch error when a file within the batch exceeds the supported URL length limit.

 

File not migrated due to batch error - The file or folder name is too long. . The URL path for all files and folders must be 400 characters or less.

The entire decoded file path, including the file name, can't contain more than 400 characters for OneDrive for home, OneDrive for work or school and SharePoint in Microsoft 365. The limit applies to the combination of the folder path and file name after decoding.

Rename/delete the affected files or parent folders in the source environment so the total URL length is below 400 characters.

This may include:

 

• Renaming long file names
• Renaming parent folders
• Reducing folder nesting depth (using fewer levels of subfolders so the file path stays shorter).
