Provisioning failed with: Team / Group {GroupName} not found in the target tenant. (4381590)

When you try to provision a Team or Group with the "Merge" options used, since On Demand flags them as "Exists in target", you encounter the below errors.

"Team {GroupName} not found in the target tenant."

"Cannot find the Group {GroupName} on the target."

Ensured that the Group / Team exists in the target, and that they are discovered in the Accounts project.

This issue generally arises when the original Group (or Team) on the target is deleted and a new one is created, resulting in a different group ID. The previous Group ID is still stored in the migration project, and when the provisioning starts the tool tries to find the target Group with the old ID, but it is no longer present. As a result, provisioning and migration attempts may fail and display an error mentioned above.

To resolve this, please follow these steps:

1. In the Accounts project, remove the associated Group. Do not attempt to match or map this group in the Accounts project, the Groups should only be discovered. They will be mapped during the provisioning task.
2. In the Teams project, remove the affected Group or Team and rediscover it.
3. Provision the group with the “Merge with existing group” option selected.
4. Once provisioned, proceed with the migration.
