During a mailbox matching operation in Quest On Demand Migration, the following error is displayed:
PowerShell GetMailbox: Connecting to remote server failed with the message:
“The WinRM client sent a request to an HTTP server and received a response stating the requested URL was not available. This is usually returned by an HTTP server that does not support WS-Management.”
This prevents ODM from retrieving mailbox details from the source environment.
The issue occurs when the PowerShell virtual directory on the customer’s Exchange server has no authentication methods enabled.
Without an enabled authentication type (e.g., Basic or Windows Authentication), Exchange cannot accept remote PowerShell connections, causing ODM’s mailbox query to fail.
To resolve the issue, enable at least one valid authentication method on the PowerShell virtual directory of the Exchange server.
