We have migrated users from source to target and performed device cutover after OneDrive migration, duplicate file entries are being observed when a few user open his OneDrive on their devices.
Reviewing OneDrive migration logs indicates that file migration has successfully completed as per normal with no relevant error being flagged.
Viewing OneDrive content directly in Web Browsers to compare file items between source and target shows a good match at both ends.
Previous procedure involves migrating OneDrive first, then follows by performing Device Cutover later.
When device is unlinked from source OneDrive before device is being cutover, source OneDrive files content should be removed from device's Desktop or Documents folders, but it may be just a partial remove, or this removal process is too slow that it has not managed to complete by the time when Device Cutover happens.
After Device Cutover, target OneDrive files content are being immediately restored, so likely to merge with the old source OneDrive files that are previously being left over, hence finally contributing to some duplicated files to appear inside some users' OneDrive container in Device Desktop or Documents folders.
Hence by skipping the initial step for OneDrive unlinking before device cut-over, we should be able to prevent getting duplicated file entries to be created in OneDrive on users' devices.
