ODMSP : How to Migrate a Microsoft 365 or Teams SharePoint Site (orphaned) without an associated Group in ODM (4348436)

In certain circumstances, a M365 or Teams group-enabled SharePoint site can become "orphaned", where the underlying group no longer exists. When trying to migrate such a site within the ODM SharePoint module, you will receive the following warning, and the site migration will be skipped:

This site is a Group site. Migration of Group sites is not supported if the corresponding Group site does not already exist on the target O365 tenancy. Please create the Group site on the target by first migrating the associated M365 group in ODM Accounts or provisioning the associate team in ODM Teams.

To migrate the SharePoint site without recreating the original Microsoft 365 Group or Team, follow these steps:

1. Manually create a SharePoint site in the target tenant using the same site template as the source site.
2. In the ODM SharePoint module, use the "Map from File" option to map the source SharePoint site to the newly created site in the target tenant.
3. Once the mapping is completed, proceed with the Site Collection migration in ODM.

This approach allows the SharePoint site data to be migrated independently, without requiring the associated Microsoft 365 Group or Teams to exist on the target tenant.
