Directory Sync: Is it possible to match account objects using the employeeID attribute? (4328750)

Can On Demand Directory Sync (ODDS) use the employeeID attribute to match source and target user objects during discovery?

employeeID is not available as a direct target matching attribute in the Directory Sync matching rules wizard.

Directly matching on employeeID is not supported. Object matching in Directory Sync supports a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 attributes selected from the following list:

• userPrincipalName

• mail

• extensionAttribute1 through extensionAttribute15

Workaround

1. Populate or copy the employeeID value into an unused Extension Attribute (for example, extensionAttribute1) on both source and target objects.

2. In Directory Sync, configure the matching criteria to use that specific Extension Attribute (extensionAttribute1–15) to perform exact-value matching between source and target user accounts.
