Description:
Unable to backup Sybase DB with NVBU 8.0 - "Archive API error"


Symptoms:
Unable to backup Sybase DB with NVBU 8.0 - Archive API error.

'Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='sybhook:: #136# #7::00': Vendor application name=Sybase Hook Library, Library version=1, API routine=syb_write(), Message=Failed to write onto NetVault backup stream '

Do either of the following:

1) Display the properties of the NetVault Process Manager service. On the "Log On" tab change "Log on as" from "Local System account" to "Administrator", then restart the NetVault service.

Or

2) Display the properties of the Sybase BCKServer_ _BS service. On the "Log On" tab change "Log on as " from "Local System account" to "Administrator" or non-sybase user, then restart Sybase _ _BS service.
