Date: Oct. 2006
Affected NV Version: 7.x
OS Version: SnapServer
Plugin version: n/a
Application version: n/a
Description: There is NO GUI on the SnapServer - this is how to get started.
There is a web interface which gives you control of the Snap box, use a web browser to go to the IP address of the Snapserver, then click on Administration (you will need to log in).
Click on the SnapExtensions icon (top right).
Click on BakBone Netvault and ensure it is enabled.
Meanwhile - install a server version of NetVault on another server which has a GUI (this could in fact be any NetVault server install). This server version MUST be the same version as the Snapserver Netvault version (this requirement is true up to Netvault 7.4 ).
Add the Snapserver NetVault server as a DOMAIN controlled server (not a client) to the newly installed NetVault Server.
Remove the host NetVault server from the domain list - this will ensure that you do not need a license for the windows NetVault version and that you default to the Snap server domain management when you log in.
Care: When you start the NVgui it can take a while to connect to the Snapserver - be patient. If you CANCEL the log in box - it leaves a hanging nvgui process that you will need to kill manually - otherwise you will not be able to restart the NetVault services on the client until this process has been terminated.
