Explanation of and workaround for primary relationship failing to update to secondary filer
SnapVault ERROR 0 the qtree is not the source for the snapmirror destination
Symptoms:
Snapvault manager backup jobs fail with the error message 'qtree is not the source for the snapmirror destination'
from the netvault server binary log -

If a backup relationship from OSSV is created and then deleted from secondary, any attempt to recreate it fails with error message:
“Transfer aborted: the qtreee is not the source for the snapmirror destination”
To test externally from netvault-
intiate a relationship operation on the secondary filer command line using the snapvault start command
e.g.
filer01*> snapvault start –S SQLserver01:C:\SQLBackups /vol/backup
(sample received error at console) :
snapvault : destination transfer from SQLserver01:C:\SQLBackups to /vol/backup : the qtree is not the source for the snapmirror destination
Transfer aborted : the qtree is not the source for the snapmirror destination
log on to the primary machine and check the snapvault log
On the primary log - (default location is c:\netapp\snapvault\etc\snapvault)
(example error message)
: error : C:\SQLBackups filer01:/vol/backup Invalid qtree/snapshot requested
Log: e:\SQLBackups filer01:/vol/backup unexpected close getting qsm data
To resolve the problem the relationship entry must be released on the primary and then restablished between the primary and secondary machines
on the primary
#1 list the relationships that are releasable with:
Snapvault.exe destinations
#2 Release the failing relationship on primary using the command 'Snapvault.exe release'
e.g.
Snapvault.exe release C:\SQLBackups filer01:/vol/backup
Re-establish the primary relationship on the primary machine via the snapvault manager gui
