Description
You can add a VMware Paravirtual SCSI high performance storage controller to provide greater throughput and lower CPU utilization. This applies in scenarios where multiple proxies are being used across the network.
VMware Paravirtual SCSI controllers are best suited for environments, especially SAN environments, that run I/O-intensive applications and a lot of data every day.. -

Steps for configuring Paravirtual SCSI Controller.
There are some additional steps to avoid the vm not booting up after changing of lSI SAS for an existing controller/boot disk.
dracut command creates an initial image used by the kernel for preloading the block device modules (such as IDE, SCSI or RAID) which are needed to access the root filesystem, mounting the root filesystem and booting into the real system.
Take a look at the steps that must be configured on the vm.
- dracut -N -f.
- Power down vm
- Change primary controller to vmware paravirtual with the next steps
- Click Virtual Machines in the VMware Host Client inventory.
- Right-click a virtual machine in the list and select Edit settings from the pop-up menu.
- On the Virtual Hardware tab, click Add other device and select SCSI Controller from the drop-down menu.
- The new SCSI Controllers appear in the Hardware list.
- Click the New SCSI Controller and select VMware Paravirtual from the drop-down menu.
- Click Save.
- Power up -- should come up clean
- dracut -f --regenerate-all
