Following upgrade from DB2 plugin 3.0.5 to 3.1.5 using NVBU 8.6.1, the DB2 plugin might unexpectedly die in the following instances:
- While browsing the DB2 plugin from the Backup window
- Or when previously scheduled (working) backups created under 3.0.5 are executed under the new plugin.
The job may fail with "Job Manager lost message channel"
Trace from the DB2 plugin show:
"Desired source has gone down" and dump files show nvdb2agent.exe and nvdb2.exe are crashing.
The new NVBU 8.6.1 memory functions exposed memory allocation issues with the DB2 plugin in certain circumstances.
However, this is only seen on Windows and AIX operating systems and not consistently occurring on all environments.
While this defect is being addressed there are 2 possible workarounds:
1- Uninstall DB2 plugin version 3.1.5 and install the previous version
2- Alternatively to continue using the 3.1.5 plugin the DB2 NVBU Client version should be downgraded to NVBU 8.5.3
