Backups would fail with "Could not start plugin 'File System' on client machine" or "Could not start plugin 'Exchange Server APM' on client machine" error messages.
NetVault Client Software was installed with the Trend Micro AntiVirus Software still running.
Here are the supported steps to uninstall and re-install NetVault:
] Make sure that no Backups are running.
] Make sure you are logged in as the Administrator and Uninstall NetVault (Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs) from the Windows PC.
] Check the NetVault Service has been removed (Computer Management - Services and Applications - Services). If not then make sure that it has been stopped.
] Manually delete the BakBone Software or Quest Software folder completely e.g. C:/Program Files/BakBone Software.
] Run regedit & delete all registry entries referring to NetVault, BakBone or Quest Software under the Software folders within each HKEY folder (Please be careful when editing the registry and back it up beforehand!). Then close the regedit window.
] Reboot your Windows Client!
] Make sure that all the relevant prerequisites are performed as in the NetVault Install Upgrade Guide on the www.quest.com website.
] Disable the Windows Firewall.
] Disable any AntiVirus Software that maybe running.
] Save the NetVault zipped binary on your Windows machine locally (The zipped binary shouldn't stored on a network share, uncompressed and run the installation from there; or should the unzipped contents be copied to a machine and run from there, otherwise you will experience NetVault Software and backup issues. Use the network share for storing the zipped binaries only).
] Totally unzip that binary locally as well and you should then see a NetVault folder appear.
] Double click on the Setup.exe within that NetVault folder.
] Select the Client installation version and follow all the onscreen default questions.
] Once the NetVault Client Software has been successfully installed, a window will appear to confirm this for you.
] Reboot your Windows Client and now you should be able see the NetVault Client as blue in the Client Management. If not, check the NetVault Configurator and start the NetVault Services under the Services tab, as well as ticking “Disable Security” (if you wish) and “This machine can be added as a Client to the Server” under the Security tab.
