How to restore an NDMP backup to a different location.
You will need to select the item to restore and right click on it and select Rename. You will need to enter the full path e.g. /vol/vol0/ to where you want to restore to and then enter the Filer/NAS Name under the Restore Options – NDMP Server field. If that Filer doesn't exist yet, then you will have to add that Filer/NAS under the Backup - NDMP - Add Server.
The volume you are restoring to does have to exist on that Filer/NAS and needs to have the relevant permissions as well. The way that you can see if that volume exists, is to check the NDMP Backup section and see if that Filer/NAS and volume is listed under that NDMP Client. If not, then you will have to add the Filer/NAS and create the volume on the Filer/NAS. NetVault doesn't create the Client and volume in the Restore process.
Note: Restoring data from one Filer/NAS manufacturer to another is not supported, as the Filer/NAS Operating System and commands (Dump/Tar) vary.
