A NetVault Client was upgraded from 8.5.3 to 8.6.3 and then a 'NVBU Information - No Error' pop-up window appears when browsing the Filesystem Plugin on a NetVault Client.
The reason why this error happened is because the Client Software was not installed in the supported way.
The steps we took to resolve this error message were as follows:
1] Make sure that no Backups are running for that Client.
2] Removed the problem Client under the 'Clients' and 'Available NVBU Machines' sections from NetVault Client Management.
3] Make sure you are logged in as the Administrator and uninstall NetVault (Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs) from the Windows machine.
4] Check the NetVault Service has been removed (Computer Management - Services and Applications - Services).
5] Manually delete the BakBone Software / Quest Software folder completely (usually C:/Program Files/BakBone Software).
6] Run regedit & delete all registry entries referring to NetVault, BakBone or Quest Software under the Software folders within each HKEY folder (Please be careful when editing the registry and back it up beforehand!). Then close the regedit window.
7] Reboot your Windows Server!
8] Make sure that all the relevant prerequisites are performed as in the NetVault Install Upgrade Guide:
https://support.quest.com/NetVault Backup
9] Disable the Windows Firewall on the NetVault Server and Client.
10] Disable any AntiVirus Software that maybe running on that Client.
11] Save the NetVault binary on your Windows Client machine locally.
12] Totally unzip that binary locally as well and you should then see a NetVault folder appear. Never run the Setup.exe from a network share or copy the unzipped installation files to the machine and run the install, otherwise it will cause installation issues!
13] Double click on the Setup.exe within that NetVault folder.
14] Select the Client installation version and follow all the onscreen default questions.
15] Once the NetVault Client Software has been successfully installed, a window will appear to confirm this for you.
16] Reboot your Windows Client and now you should be able to launch your NetVault Configurator. Check that the NetVault Services are running under the Service tab.
We then added that Client in NetVault Client Management and then were able to scroll down the Filesystem Plugin in the Backup window for that Client with no error messages.
