We see the backup fail with unrecoverable internal NDMP server error which is a generic error, then we see the informational messages "snapsh Dump/Dumplet data stream misaligned" in the binary log as shown below:

there may be file misssing from the filer /etc directory or The a Data ONTAP upgrade may be incomplete causeing missing files in the /etc directory.
Data ONTAP may need to be reinstalled please contact netapp concerning this problem.
