Backup fails with Failed to Truncate logs,'Error returned from an ESE function call (d).
Following errors are: Backup failed, failed to backup storage groups, Check that all databases included in the backup job are mounted, and finally 'Fatal error: Backup Completed'
The log reports:

Check the following;
In the Exchange\bin directory can you verify that the file esebcli2.dll from the Exchange bin directory is the same version that is in the system32 directory.
NetVault will use esebcli2.dll located in the system32 directory, not esebcli2.dll in the Exchange bin directory.
When you update Exchange with Service packs it does not always update the entries in the esebcli2.dll in the System 32 directory.
If they are simply different versions, to fix this issue, you need to copy esebcli2.dll from the Exchange bin directory to the system32 directory(overwriting the existing older esebcli2.dll) .
If this is the case then we can retry the backup and see if the logs truncate at that point.
If the versions are the same, (which will probably be the case), Our next suggestion is to contact Microsoft.
They will probably have you run the ESEUTIL to find out why Exchange does not truncate its logs.
