Vmware backup fails with error:
"VMWVIM :04880 207 0 143118 Task to create VM snapshot failed with reason 'Creating a quiesced snapshot failed because the (user-supplied) custom pre-freeze script in the virtual machine exited with a non-zero return code."
The backup option in the job are set not to quiesce so, in this case the VMWare tools will will manage the VSS quiesce, it is here where we see the reported error.
The issue was reolved by updating the VMWare Tools after this the backup completed.
