After upgrading from VMware 1.2.1 to VMware 1.5.8 it was not possible to create file level backups.
The mount option was available and the drive icon was seen after using the mount option but no drive letters appear.
1/ in backup window open netvault server or client where the VMware plug-in is installed, right click the plugging select configure a make note of the current settings.
Right click each Vcenter server or EXS host you backup through and select edit server and make note of the configuration details
2/ in client management right click the netvault server or client the Vmware plug-in is installed on, select uninstall plug-in then uninstall the Vmware plugin
3/ browse to the working directory its location within the configure setting we made a note of earlier. Delete all files in this folders
4/ rename …/netvault/config/vmware.cfg to …/netvault/config/oldvmware.cfg
5/ install VMware plug-in and configured as with setting taken earlier.
