when NDMP plugin is installed on a client machine it is not possible to browse any but the first volume in the backup window. All subsequent volumes appear greyed out.
This is expected NDMP Client or NDMP Snap Mirror to Tape. To be able to support sub-jobs, the NDMP plugin must be running on the NVBU Server as it needs to contact the Scheduler directly in order to create a sub-job for each filer volume from the backup selection.
An NVBU Client cannot contact the Scheduler directly as it is nnot the Netvault Server and cannot therefore submit multiple sub-jobs that would be created if it were running on the NVBU Server. The NDMP plugin on a client machine can therefore only select one backup per job as sub-jobs require direct schedule manager access.
The solution is either to create one job per volume on the Client or to add the NDMP filer to the NVBU Server so that sub-jobs can be generated. It does not matter where the target device is located as the connection for the backup stream is a point-to-point connection between the device and the filer's Data Server.
