Media Marked for "Read Only"... right click media and choose Properties and the box to make media "Read Only" is not marked... within the NetVault Binary Job Logs... you'll find similar errors to this:
Error 2012/06/20 03:43:48 88 Media Marking ''000015' <auntbee>' read-only to protect it from re-labeling as it has reported itself as unexpectedly BLANK in two different drives.
(in this case, the cause was) After uninstalling/re-installing... and re-adding library, in order to do a NetVault Database restore, some media that showed up as "Unknown" was blanked, when actually it should not have been blanked... the configuration (when you added library back into NetVault) of "Mark Unknown Media as Blank" was supposed to have been enabled.... instead of "Not" configuring this and actuall blanking the "Unkown" media......... this cause confusion within the NetVault Database... once the actual NetVault Database restore was run.
Below are the steps of what to do, to fix this issue (tape labels are only examples, you're actual tape lables may be different).
1.) Abort any jobs that are currently running, unless you want to allow them to finish first.
2.) Right click your Library Name... choose the option to "Open Door", this will offline all media currently in the Library
3.) Go into Media Management and "Remove" (you may need to double click the media first, remove what's on it first, then remove the tape icon at that point) the following media/tapes - ''000001', ''000005', ''000007', ''000015', ''000017', ''000021', ''000023', ''000024', ''000082' (example only)
4.) After you have completely removed the above mentioned media/tapes from the Media Management window... go back into Device Management, right click your library again and choose the option to "Close Door"
5.) Allow library to come back online... the media you removed from our Media Database should now show up as either "Foriegn" or "Unknown". If showing up as Unknown still, you may "BLANK" them, if showing as Foreign, you can attempt to scan them back into the Database, and they should show up with the correct label and data information on them, or if it's an old backup you no longer need... you may Blank it as well.
This should correct your issue, and your backups should now run correctly as there will no longer be confusion as to what is on or not on the tapes in question.
