DB2 backs up with multiple streams so when it duplicate it tries to put each stream on a different tape. Once the duplication has put a stream on a tape by default it will not allow a second stream to be written to the tape. So this means that you need a tape for every stream which in some circumstances means we run out of tape leaving us with the backup in waiting for media status.
streams unable to share media. This is set like this as default because sites with large tape libraries want to duplicate at high speed and by default the streams will be assign a media and a tape drive per stream and write all the streams in parallel .
Modify the advanced option set, select allow streams to share media
