Affected Module & Version: n/a
OS Version: Microsoft Windows
Application Information: n/a
Description:
From NetVault: Backup version 8, support for creating VTLs on CIFS network shares has been added.
Symptoms:
Incorrectly creating VTLs on CIFS network shares can result in the error:
The directory to create the disk library in does not exist.
Disk library not created.
The account used for NetVault services requires full access to the network share. The default user account for NetVault services is Local System. Generally this is not sufficient, and the user should be modified. The Administrator user ID or a Domain Administrator id is usually appropriate.
In the Window's Services tool, Right-click NetVault Process Manager and select Properties. On the Log On tab, select This Account and enter the user name and password of a user with full access to the network share. Stop and start NetVault services.
When creating the VTL, use the process detailed in the Administrator’s Guide, but specify a UNC path rather than a directory path for the Library Location, for example:
\\myserver.net\myshare
