The nvpmgr trace may show a process died, but there will be no trace for that process.
Although it may be possible to get this error if the required DLL is missing or there are permission problems, usually the problem is that heap memory is exhausted in Windows.
1. In Windows under services right click on NetVault Process Manager and select Properties.
2. Under the Log On tab check the allow service to interact with desktop box and click OK
3. Restart the NetVault Service.
In the NetVault Backup Installation Guide under pre-installations requirements for Windows there are instructions for modifying the registry to increase non-interactive desktop heap that can be used instead of configuring the service to interact with desktop.
