After installing NetVault and exchange plugin it was not possible to configure exchange plugin.
Trace shows that we execute the following command:

We see that the command takes 187 seconds to complete, which is longer that NetVault is configured to wait for response.

Logged in to exchange server found that exchange power shall commands and accessing “exchange management console were very slow. Found article recommending that internet explorer, internet option, advanced, Check for publisher’s certificate revocation should not be selected. Deselected this option and response time were significantly quicker.
This made no difference to the backup still failed the same way. So modified the NetVault user to be the domain Administrative user with privilege to access exchange databases that I had logged ion with to test the power shall commands previously. Now we could configure the plugin and run a backup.
Create NetVault domain administrator privilege with privilege to access exchange databases and a password that never expires.
Make NetVault user this domain administrator user. This can be changed by opening windows services, right clicking NetVault process manger, selecting properties, logon tab and modifying the user here, selecting apply and restarting the service.
Login to the exchange server deselect internet explorer, internet option, advanced, “Check for publisher’s certificate revocation”
