What is the impact to our Netvault Server and Netvault Client systems when the systems are migrated from one AD domain to another. Does the Netvault platform have any dependency on Active Directory and DNS
Domain and DNS changes will certainly impact communications between NetVault machines.
To find and communicate with other NVBU machines we use their Network names and IP addresses and if anything is introduced that will change forward and reverse dns look-ups then we might have connection problems during communication and backups.
If the migration is made in a way that dns records resolve fine to and from all NVBU machines then it should be transparent, if not, using hosts files to let the system know where is the NVBU server and vice versa can help.
