NVBU v10.0.5.27 & DR Rapid Data Access (RDA) Protocol to back up to a DR Appliance (4039266)

Customers using NetVault Backup 10.0.5.27 are advised to upgrade to 10.0.5.28 which does not require patching. If upgrade is not possible at this time, this KB describes the process to patch NetVault Backup 10.0.5.27 in order to use the DR appliance RDA protocol.

To use NetVault Backup 10.0.5.27 and the DR Rapid Data Access (RDA) protocol to back up to the DR appliance, you need the following:

- Update your DR appliance to OS v3.2

- Update of the NetVault Backup 10.0.5.27 RDA library. (This update only needs to be done on the NetVault Server, unless any clients new or existing are updated to 10.0.5.27 If the client software is updated to 10.0.5.27 you must run the RDA plugin binaries on each updated client.

NetVault RDA Library File-names: (Windows: DellRDABundle-x86_64-3.2.0194.0-RDA.exe) (Linux: DellRDSPlugin-3.2.0194.0-RDA.bin.gz)

Both the DR OS 3.2 operating system and RDA Plugin binaries can be obtained under Patches on the NetVault Backup 10.0.5 Support Portal

DR RDA client-side data deduplication provides enhanced backup performance when backing up to a DR appliance.

has a DR currently not running DR OS 3.2 and they upgrade just their NetVault backup server to 10.0.5.27, what do they need to do?

Upgrade the DR to 3.2 to work with NVBU 10.0.5.27 and also deploy the RDA/RDS library patch on the NVBU server.

has a DR currently not running DR OS 3.2 and they upgrade their NetVault backup server and clients to 10.0.5.27, what do they need to do?

Upgrade the DR to 3.2 to work with NVBU 10.0.5.27 and also deploy the RDA/RDS library patch on the NVBU server and clients.

upgrades their DR to DR OS 3.2 and they upgrade just their NetVault backup server to 10.0.5.27, what do they need to do?

Run the RDA/RDS library patch on the NVBU server
