Installing third party software on DR appliances
Description

DR appliances run a linux operating system DROS. It is abstracted from user interface by a custom CLI shell and root access is not enabled by default.
Some users may have a policy to install software on a DR appliance, in order to monitor DROS system or improve DROS’s features.
Cause

Upgrading, modifying, adding or removing the kernel or additional packages to DROS can have unknown consequences to the performance and stability of the DR appliance.
Resolution

DROS is a customized and optimized Linux platform. It is not recommended to upgrade, modify, add or remove the kernel or additional packages to the operating system directly.
Quest cannot guarantee the operation of DROS if the kernel or additional packages are modified.
