Using the NetVault Backup Exchange Plugin with a No CNO DAG or IP less DAG
Description

With the release of Windows 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013 Service Pack 1 the concept of the IP-Less DAG or DAG with no CNO has emerged.
Cause

While this feature is being evaluated for implementation we offer the following workaround
Resolution

1. Add the various members of the DAG as NetVault Clients and install and configure the Exchange Plugin
2. Create backup jobs on each individual client as necessary to include all the Databases that are to be backed up
3. Restore as necessary to the individual clients.
4. In short backup and restore as though each individual member of the DAG was a Standalone Exchange DAG system.
This work around has been tested and verified for both backup and restore by our QA department in our labs.
