Title

VM backups fail with "Unable to communicate with the remote host, since it is disconnected."
Description

Vmware backup fails immediately with the binary log dump showing:
TaskID Failed to snapshot VM
Worker process has exited prematurely
Will mark any backups handled by worker process as failed
Failed to backup selected VM(s)
Context shows:
VMWVIM :608220 207 0 95125 Task to create VM snapshot failed with reason 'Unable to communicate with the remote host, since it is disconnected.'
VMWSLAVE:608220 204 0 95125 Failed to snapshot VM
When browsing the VMware plugin the VM in question has a red sign showing it is inaccessible.
Looking at the vCenter server via vSphere client, the VM is also seen as DISCONNECTED
Cause

The ESXi serve hosting the VMs in question is disconnected and inaccessible from the vCenter server.
If the vCenter server cannot access an ESX server and its VMs, these same VMs won't be available for backup and won't be accessible from the VMware plugin.
Resolution

There could be several reasons why a VM and its ESXi server are disconnected, all outside the NVBU scope.
