To run the audit tool, right click on the Command Line (CMD) icon and select “Use as Administrator”, then type in the full path where the NetVault installation directory resides and then go to the util directory (Use a terminal on a Linux platform).
Here is an example of the command you can run:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Netvault Backup\util\nvaudtlserver.exe
Here are the extensions you can use with the above command to gather individual information and to use with more than one extension in the same line to gather specific item information (make sure you use double dashes before the command):
--cfgfiles
--dmpfiles
--etcfiles
--latentfiles
--binlist
--diskusage
--osversion
--nvversion
--machineid
--license
--npksinstalled
--timeout
--help
Note: each time you run the commands, then the previous information is automatically deleted from the tmp directory and the new requested information is then listed.
If you use the main command with no extensions, then this will gather all the information from all the extensions on one hit.
If you have many clients, then the main command will take some time to gather all the information from all the clients.
If not all the information is gathered from all clients in that time frame (has a timeout of 600s), then you can increase this timeout using the following extension with the time amount that you wish to use:
--timeout 12000
If you have one of the text files still open in the tmp directory, then the next command may not work, as NetVault won't be able to close that file and therefore cannot delete it.
If you have the NetVault Server installed on a Windows platform, then you could run the main command instead of using the CMD window (not using any extensions unfortunately), by going to the util directory and right click on the nvaudtlserver.exe file and select “Use as Administrator”.
Additional Note: A Feature Request has already been logged for a report to be created to help gather MachineID and NetVault Names for a future NVBU release (Bug 27264). There also may be an addional reporting software/plugin to use with NVBU 10, but this is to be confirmed at a later date.
Please check the Release Notes of a future NetVault Backup release to see if that item has been listed under the "Fixed Items" section.
