The following sub text errors were from a Binary log and shows a problem when moving a tape within a Quantum i80 tape library that had two LTO drives:
The library is trying to move some media, but can’t.
We made sure that no more tapes were loaded than the amount of slots the tape library had i.e. 10 slots = 10 tapes, as would also cause an issue.
Drive one is attached to the NetVault Server and drive two is attached to a Smart Client that had a DSD license.
There was a problem with drive two whereby a tape was stuck and the hardware vendor advised that they could only replace the drive if a HP Diagnose Software was installed on the Smart Client. The problem only started to occur since the HP Diagnose Software was installed.
The following steps resolved the issue, as NetVault needs to have full control of the tape library i.e. no drivers/software installed, as this will interfere with the NetVault communication with the device:
1] Remove the HP Diagnose Tool Software from the Smart Client. If there are no uninstall steps supplied, then I would advise to contact your hardware vendor for the uninstall steps to make sure that the software is removed correctly and not causing an adverse effect.
2] Make screenshots of the tape library name and configurations within NetVault Device Management.
